Candy swap
Once inside Meidi-Ya Supermarket, I quickly began perusing the aisles, looking for interesting products. Carlos and Ate headed for the frozen goods section while I stopped by the candy aisle.
I find it really interesting looking at products or goods from other countries. It’s definitely one way one can learn more about another culture. And there’s something about candy wrappers and packages that intrigue me. The photoshopped pictures, the indecipherable foreign language and characters, the cute drawings and illustrations - all these just make me want to rip the packages open and examine the goods inside. I just wanted to run up and down the aisle and grab everything that lay before me. Aargh!
And speaking of candy, are you aware of candy swap clubs on the internet? The way it works, you join these swap clubs and you get a partner from another country. You spend a given amount (usually $20 set by your club) buying local candies, cookies, and chocolates, place them inside a box or package, and then send this to your overseas partner. He or she should also do the same. Neat no?
I’ve always wanted to do this. Perhaps someone out there can swap candies with me. My email is up there on the header. I’ll be waiting. (Okay Toto, good luck with that.) Please?
