Dining at the Dandelion

Ate, Carlos and I made our way from the MRT station underneath The Central mall and made our way to Clarke Quey. They wanted to take me out for dinner and I was actually intrigued by the idea of eating in this area. I thought we were having dinner at one of the numerous bars or restaurants located in one of the shophouse rows along the river. We went over the bridge, passed the rows of tables and chairs set beside the riverbank, and beyond that bars and clubs.

We crossed one of the backstreets and soon reached Liang Court Shopping Centre. I then remembered that this was one of the few places I visited the first time I went to Singapore. During that time, Ate was staying at the Somerset Liang Court, a serviced residence sponsored by her company. The shopping center beside it was under renovation back then, but I remember noting that there were a lot of Japanese stores and restaurants within the vicinity. This was probably due to the sizable Japanese population found within the area.

They brought me to Tampopo, which literally means “dandelion”.
