Disappointing Da Vinci
The Singapore Science Centre was a modest-sized museum complex which housed various interactive displays about numerous sciences. They had numerous exhibits about the different fields of Physics, Mathematics, Geophysical Sciences, Genetics, Biology, etc. I actually had fun going through the various interactive displays and racing through the exhibit halls amidst the sea of screaming grade school children.
Sadly though, the reason why we went to the Centre in the first place turned out to be a let down. It lacked umph. Da Vinci The Genius: An Inspirational Exhibition was actually a roving display that traces the history of the great painter and his numerous works of art and inventions. The producers of the show made scale models of Da Vinci’s famous sketches. There was also an in-depth analysis of Leonardo’s most famous painting, the Mona Lisa.
Overall, the exhibit was an awkward okay at best. The scale models failed to impress me, a lot of the artwork were merely reprints on trapals, and the videos played at the exhibit seemed like those shown on Discovery or the History Channel. One of the saving graces of the exhibit was the section about the Mona Lisa, but then again, the information presented can easily be found on Google.
But hey, at least I was able to see the west coast, right?
