Detour
We took the MRT from Little India to Buangkok where my parents and Carlos got off. They wanted to go home and rest before dinner. Ate and I continued on to Sengkang, which was one MRT station further up the line. Ate was actually tired but I asked her to go with me to the mall connected to the Sengkang station. I remembered the last time I was in Singapore, there was a sale at that mall and there were toys being sold at the mall’s atrium. She was such a trooper and, reluctantly, she agreed to go with me.
It was my first day back in Singapore and I did not want to waste time. As soon as we got out of the MRT station, I was on the hunt. My heart was palpitating and my senses heightened with excitement. I quickly surveyed the area and saw a mall cop. I quickly made a beeline and asked the important question that all travelers should know, learn by heart and never forget.
“Sir, where’s the nearest toy store?”
The man pointed the to the 4th floor. I took my sister’s hand and quickly led her to the nearest escalator. When we got there, I was surprised to see that the toy store was a bit small and had limited stocks. Sad to say, my first toy forage yielded dismal results.
